OMG Beta!

So I just got the “Welcome to Beta” email from Blizzard. I’m giddy and yet already I feel guilty.

Do I neglect my guild and focus on helping debug beta? We’re just now making good progression.. I can’t really justify it.

Or do I neglect beta and spend alot of time on the live envs. I’d feel guilty triggering my beta key if I only end up spending 2-3 hours actually helping with beta stuff. *sigh*

I think, despite the guilt, I’m going to use the key. I can’t not.

So ok.. is there a blogger guild in Beta? There really should be! I mean imagine gchat with Siha, BRK, Rohan and Galo (..well not Galo since he’s a hordie 🙂 ) but you know what I mean.

Ugh.. just remembered that addons won’t work.. sad monkey. This may be more painful than I thought.

I am so with you on the blogger guild idea. I’m thinking of making one hordeside on Murmer, that’s the pvp realm so you can just copy an 80 to be in it, you wouldn’t have to actually be a hordie.

If I would’ve thought this out in advance I would’ve made my char on Murmer an alliance!

  2. First of all Congrats! I would say if you like raiding keep raiding on live servers but atleast get to beta for Death knight starting zone experience. Its awesome and once that is done, i think its “better” to get back to “stable” world unless you are obsessed to test all of beta like BRK does for hunters. Good luck!

I picked up a key yesterday as well. If you do manage to find (or create) a bloggers guild drop me a line and let me know. I set up my transfer to the pve server, alliance side.

Once again, Grats on the key. Have fun in Northrend.

  4. My husband and I went to BlizzCon last year and got beta keys. I highly recommend that you start out with a Death Knight, even if you don’t plan on going past the starting areas. It’s a great intro to the expansion story and very well done.

And that’s all I’ve experienced in the beta. lol Well, I ran around getting screenies one night, but that’s about it. We had to decide if we were going to keep our guild alive or play beta. The guild won out. (We’re half the officer team, so it really was that simple…)

Anyways, what a number of our members have been doing is playing on off-nights and on weekends. I think they’re trying to get a Naxx run together. lol

Watching them, there’s been a lot of highs and lows as various talents are beyond OP or nerfed into oblivion. Just take it as what it is: a testing facility… with about 20,000 people testing it right now. (That’s a guess but also the normal population of 1 medium server. There were 8k people at BlizzCon, so I’m being conservative.) You shouldn’t feel guilty about “only end[ing] up spending 2-3 hours actually helping with beta stuff.” I would think any more than that and you’re going to have already done everything once the expac goes live.

And check out the crystal forest. Really. You can see it from Dalaran.
