1. Work/Programming
YEAH! Yesterday, finally, my project went live. It went off mostly without a hitch. Again we were on the phone with the vendor.. and again being on the phone with them made me anxious and unhappy.
We said: Ok, so all your stuff is on hold?
They said: Oh, yeah, all set.
We said: Ok, we’re launching our stuff… {10 mins later} Ok, our stuff is now live.
They said: Ok, so now I’ll write a script to put our stuff on hold.
{{*fuming quietly to myself* SERIOUSLY WTF? That script should have been written AT LEAST the day before AND this means that when we asked if “their stuff was on hold” it wasn’t. /fume /curse /stomp }}
They said: {10 mins later} Ok, Our stuff is now on hold. No.. wait.. our scrip had an error. I’ve fixed the error and am now re-running. {10 mins later} ok, everything is now on hold.
{{ /fume /stomp /curse }}
Regardless, the launch happened.. and everything seems to be going along swimmingly.
In other, happier news, as of Monday I’ve officially gotten a promotion to “Senior Software Engineer”. I feel all.. idaknow.. warm and fuzzy inside.
2. Home
Jimmy, our realtor, contacted Citimortgage and talked to the manager of the person who’s supposed to be our “single point of contact”. Almost immediately we got a response from our contact. Nice considering the previous 20 days of absolute radio silence.. and also nice considering we have <10 days until the deadline. They’ve finally gotten an estimate of the value of the house.. and that has been sent on to a negotiator (whatever that means). Essentially I think it means more waiting.. but at this point I’m not sure for what. I continue to wait.. anxiously. I just received email from Jimmy.. CitiMortgage has issued its approval of the short sale. I’m in my office at work balling my eyes out. This is -such- a relief.
I’ve picked out my ruby slippers. I really hope I actually get to buy them. I guess I get to buy them.
{edited to add}
Well ok. I talked with Jimmy. So now we send a note back to the buyer to make sure they’re still buying.. and then there’s inspections.. and then.. and then.. Well.. regardless we’re now closer to selling than we were.. and (I think) the approvals are supposedly the hardest part of the process. So ok. Crossing my fingers on the buyer.
3. Health
I now have all of the paraphernalia for the CrazyStupid Diet (hCG) BUT fiance expressed a lot of concern about the injections (and when I say a “lot of concern” I’m really understating it). So slight change of plans. On Saturday a friend of ours who is a surgeon is going to come by and show me exactly how to do the injections and stay safe. So I won’t start until after I meet with him.
This morning while getting my coffee I did a stretch from the Egoscue book and my back/hip/SI-Joint popped. I mean like people 3 floors away may have heard it. For the first time in WEEKS my back actually doesn’t hurt. It’s amazing how much of a better mood I’m in.
4. SCA/Projects
I’m starting to receive the books I’ve ordered for my research into 6th Century Kentish clothing. I’ve started documenting what I’m doing and open questions on my Research blog. At this point I have more questions than answers.. more to follow as I figure it out.
Last weekend I almost finished F’s tunic (14th century buttoned Icelandic swing coat with standing collar) for the Gaston Phebus – Hunt and Picnic. I just need to finish 4 more buttonholes and attach the buttons.
Wednesday I cut out Bob’s tunic (14th century buttoned Icelandic swing coat with standing collar) and last night(Thursday) I started sewing it together. At this point I just need to attach the sleeves and collar to the body and then add facings and buttonholes/buttons.
Hopefully that means that I’ll be able to work on my dress this weekend. I’m working on a 15th century waisted kirtle with detachable sleeves. At this point I’ve got the bodice sewn together.. I just need to .. do everything else on it and I’m good to go.
I had a moment.. when I thought to myself “OMG F has no hat to wear.. I’ll need to make him one of those”… in fact I even went so far to start researching hat construction.. and looking around for patterns.. then I remembered that I had ordered and received a hat for him already. Obviously I need to cut back on my anxious fretting.

Anyone know of a nice pet friendly 2 bedroom house with a yard within SF commute distance?
