1. Work/Programming
“We interrupt this new project to bring you and update from the old project”. I’m still fighting to setup an environment for the new project. The documentation for setting up the environment is … sketchy at best.. and when I follow it I keep running into unexpected errors that are slowing me down.
Then the old project (the one that launched at the beginning of January) reared its head. It turns out that one 3rd party wasn’t willing to “handle” something that the other 3rd parties were handling. So since this is a big 3rd party.. and they weren’t budging.. and we were losing money.. I had to fix this snafu. So.. now the project has to go back through QA and then a full richmedia QA (ie, probably 1-2 weeks of a lot of people’s time to accommodate this bitchy 3rd party). Blah.. Regardless, it went quickly and I had it all set to go in about a day and a half.
Anyway, back to fiddling my environment. (yes, my job is exciting 🙂 )
2. Home
House is calming down. After last week’s uproar I spend a lot of time smoothing out the ruckus. I still have several boxes of stuff to deal with but it’s getting back to normal.
Several people spoke up for the linen scraps.. so I guess I’ll set them aside and probably plan to take that bin to March Crown with me.
Over last weekend I cleaned up the front room carpet and got it rolled up and F moved it into the Trailer. It makes our front room look very empty.. but it also has stopped the random peeing by His Evilness, the cat.
I’m hopeful to make more progress on it this weekend.
3. Health
I finished the first week of C25K this morning. I’m almost hesitant to say this.. but the last day almost felt easy. Ok, backing up.. the first day was not easy. My body was definitely freaked out at the idea of running. So I grepped teh Intarwebs and asked about proper running form and breathing. Most of my problem seemed to be getting my body to be able to breath while running. Teh Intarwebs said that I should be breathing in through my nose for 3 beats and then out through my mouth for two beats. I started doing this both in my C25k mornings and with the walking I do to/from work. I learned that I don’t think I’ve ever been breathing through my nose.. Yes.. I think I just admitted to being a mouth breather. But no, here it is.. when I breath 3 beats in through my nose and then two beats out through my mouth I noticed that my nose gets VERY cold.. and since I’ve never noticed that before it tells me that I haven’t -really- been breathing though my nose.. at least not when I’m walking.
Anyway I tried the breathing teh Intarwebs suggested and found that it helped.. but I’m bothered by the lack of symmetry. So I’ve been doing closer to 2-in/2-out which pleases my lizzard OCD brain.
So I finished the first week of C25K and plan to continue to week two next week. In other news my plateaus is finished. Assuming I don’t eat my way out of it this weekend I’m showing a HUGE loss for this week. As of this morning I’m down 5.4 lbs for the week. Yee-ha. All that and not hungry and not feeling deprived.
4. Projects
Over the weekend I finished His Highness of the Mists orange under tunic. I washed and dried it last night. I’ll hopefully be able to get it to him or his Head of Court if not Sunday then Monday so he can have it available for Estrella.
This weekend I think I’ll work on a new fighting tunic for Fearghus. Last October when we were in LA we stopped by the fabric district and got some nice sturdy green linen for a new tunic for him. He read some where that a blue tunic in Norse stories is kind of like the “red shirts” in Star Trek. So I promised I’d make him a new tunic.
5. Weekend plans
Fearghus is going to War Collegium this weekend. I demurred and plan to stay home and clean and work on things that need doing.
Need to do:
– Send gifts to family in Montana
– Do laundry (Mount Laundry is conquered.. but laundry is like the snow.. it just keeps coming)
– Clean out fridge (need to pull it out and scrub the inside throughly)
– Clean kitchen floor (again, scrubby and soap needed for this)
– Move the rest of the SCA crap into the trailer (and out of the pile in the front room)
– Sew an armor vest and new fighting tunic for Fearghus.
– Start on jean quilt (I think I’m intimidated by this project.. like I’m freaked out that I’ll do it wrong.. I just need to DO IT)
Future:
– Sew a dress for my brother’s wedding.
– Sew clothes for Fearghus and myself for Pennsic
