1. Work\/Programming<\/strong>
\nCHANGE! In the “Good News” category. It’s now official so I feel okay with announcing it.<\/p>\n

I now have a job after the end of this year!! Starting October 1 (and continuing for the foreseeable future) I’m now a “Revenue Platform Systems Engineer” (Big fancy title that means my department is changing… and that I’ll be working on more revenue systems than just ads… But I’m still an engineer).<\/p>\n

Hooray for continued gainful employment after the new year.<\/p>\n

This last few weeks I’ve had a couple of exchanges with HR about the particulars of Maternity leave. Honestly I’m not entirely certain of the extent. It seems like if I am willing to lose income I could extend it through just about the end of March.. but since I’m the sole bread-winner that isn’t an option. I think, with 100% income that we’re looking at sometime in early-February to go back to work. That said, I still need to talk with my new boss to see if we could increase my work at home time after the birth.<\/p>\n

In other news.. Work has been paying for me to learn APEX (the programming language used on SalesForce.com). On the one hand, Yeah training.. on the other hand.. Boo trainer tends to just read the words printed on the cards of the PowerPoint deck he’s going through. I guess since work’s paying for it I shouldn’t be ALL that picky.. but seriously. If I needed an instructor to read the cards to me I shouldn’t be an engineer. \/huffy.<\/p>\n

2. Home<\/strong>
\nCamping stuff made it back into the trailer and out of the garage. The garage needs a good straightening but other than that the house is mostly back to normal. Fearghus is heading out on Wednesday for Great Western War.. I think I’ll take this opportunity to sort through some of the hidden piles in the house and get rid of them.<\/p>\n

At the moment we’re 6-7 weeks out from the baby’s birth. I need to clear out my sewing room (and figure out where I’ll be sewing in the future) and turn that into a nursery. I have a feeling that the sewing room may get combined into the office.. but I’m not entirely certain how that’s going to work. It may just get moved out of the sewing room and into the garage for the short term. We’ll see.<\/p>\n

3. Health<\/strong>
\nPrior to October\/November last year (when I had a non-viable pregnancy) my weight was pretty much stuck at 288. With the non-viable pregnancy that shot up to ~310. With this pregnancy I’ve seen my weight up as high as 351. With the doctor’s eating plan I saw an initial loss of just over 10 lbs. In the last week or so my weight has mostly stabilized at my new “pregnancy” weight of 339. That said, it’s still creeping downwards. Last week was 339.7, this morning was 339.1.<\/p>\n

I’m annoyed to be above 300. In fact I’m immeasurably immensely annoyed to be above 318 (the starting weight the last time I lost a lot of weight). But it is what it is.<\/p>\n

Everything from Kaiser says the baby is normal, normal, normal. As long as I stick to the proscribed eating plan and take my pills my blood sugars stay in a good range. Sadly over this last weekend (October Crown) I forgot to bring my pills with me to site so I was unable to take them Friday and Saturday night. I’m fairly certain the nurse is going to scold me about that when she calls on Wednesday. Meh.<\/p>\n

I’m wondering, post-baby, if “keep your blood sugars in the right range” a valid diet plan? I mean, if 1 hour after eating each meal my blood sugars should be below 130.. and I eat meals that make it do that.. is that a valid way to lose weight? Really the “eating plan” is pretty much what I’m already doing.. but the check and balance would be actually checking my blood sugars to make sure they stay where they are supposed to. Must contemplate. <\/p>\n

4. SCA\/Projects<\/strong>
\nLet’s see. I finished the painting on Fearghus’ Queen’s Champion Tabard in time for him to wear it at Mists Coronet last weekend. <\/p>\n

Patsy’s fabric FINALLY arrived on last Friday and Patsy’s Cotehardie and tippets<\/a> was finished on the Friday before Crown. It took a total of 7 days (with one day off) from start to finish.. Everything got done except for the eyelets. Her Majesty had me sew her into the dress on Saturday morning. It looked fantastic.<\/p>\n

For the Queen’s Artisan Display I ended up showing off my reproduction of the Viborg shirt and the tabletweaving I had done for Fearghus’ Knight tunic. I feel bad that I didn’t have new and shiny things for this display.. but between the wedding and the other projects listed above I just didn’t have time to get anything else done.<\/p>\n

Project list:
\n1. Need to paint the Queen’s Champion Symbols on the shield (deadline Wednesday before Great Western War)
\n2. Bob’s Waffenrock (deadline 12th night, though sooner is better). Need to nail down exactly what he wants on the waffenrock, get measurements and start putting this together.
\n3. Chevrons for trim for Miach and Sciath (no deadline) Sooner is better than later and at this point I just need to finish it.
\n4. Sylvie’s Anglo-Saxon tunic (soft deadline Cynaguan Coronet, Oct 26). This is in process. I’m hand-sewing it together on my bus commute. Sleeves are done I just need to add the gores. Frankly this project has much lower prioroty than sorting through Baby stuff and prepping for hte Baby.. so it may not get done.
\n5. Baby garb. It would be nice to have baby garb before I have the baby.. but that may be wishful thinking.
\n6. Anglo-Saxon Fillet (no deadline). I’ve received materials for this in the mail.. but I can’t start on this until I finish the things above.. or at least 1-3.<\/p>\n

5.<\/strong>
\nSo it’s now “after the wedding”. So all the things that have gotten pushed off until “after the wedding” need to be dealt with.<\/p>\n

Todo:
\n – Organize sewing room\/baby room, etc.
\n – Organize Baby clothes, figure out what we’re missing. Fill in missing items.
\n – Figure out what we need to pack for the trip to the hospital (yes, it’s ~2 months away, no, I don’t want to put it off until the last minute).
\n – Finalize maternity leave with work.
\n – Figure out dentist and get appts.
\n – Get name officially changed<\/strike>(done) and then update bills\/DMV\/etc with new name.<\/p>\n
