Work/Programming
I’m tying up the last of the loose ends. Today is my last work at home day before maternity leave officially starts. I think I’ve handed off all my projects.. but I also think there’s quite a bit of “things I do under the radar” that there’s really no one else to cover for me. I’m sure the company will be fine without me for a while.. but I think it will be a little bit bumpy and I think they’ll be glad when I’m back. 🙂

I -think- maternity leave extends to 2/15. That said HR told me a few weeks ago that there was possibly an error in my calculations.. and that they’d get back to me.. and then they never got back to me. Oh well. I’m planning to check in with them a couple of times to see if there’s a revised date.

2. Home
Guest room is cleaned out and ready for guests. All the baby clothes are washed and put away. The crib is made. Though honestly having just crib sheets on the crib with no blankets or stuffed animals.. or bumpers or anything looks very very clinical and bare. I *get* that that’s the way it’s supposed to be (or at least what TPTB advise for best avoiding SIDS) but geez.. it looks very bare and unwelcoming. Aside from the sheets the only thing on the crib is a “sleep sheep”(stuffed animal sheep which plays womb and heart beat sounds) which is connected to the crib bars OUTSIDE of the crib. So I guess that’s something.

3. Health
<strike>Weight is again up. Not sure how much, I forgot to weigh this morning. Meh.</strike>[edited to update] I weighed myself this morning (Saturday) and find that I’m now at 341.1. That’s 1.1 lbs down from last week of 342.2. I’m surprised. Considering the baby’s growing about a half a pound to a pound a week.. and me slowly losing my battle of willpower against sugar I really expected it to go up.[/Edit]

I’m coming to the end of my ability to skip all things made with sugar. I don’t want to gorge on sugar.. but I do want a bite of chocolate.. or a scootch of cookie for a dessert. On the other hand.. I’m still freaking over the moon every time I make wilted spinach with butter and salt. “Over the moon” as in it’s better tasting to me than any sweet. I think the best outcome of the doctor’s not-a-diet-eating-plan has been the shrinking of my portion size. I will be working REALLY hard post-baby to keep my portion size down at where it is now.

Yesterday we had another ultrasound to measure Erik. This time he came in at 9lbs 4oz (+/- 1 lb 3oz). That’s up a pound in two weeks. Today the doctor called and advised that the safest course of action would be to schedule a C-Section. So Tuesday morning at 6:30 am we’ll be in the hospital for the C-Section.

4. SCA/Projects
last week I wrote: My heels have been dragging on Miach’s rus pants. I totally need to kick my own ass and just finish those this weekend. Other than that.. not much is currently happening on the SCA project front.

I neglected to kick my ass this last week. I’ll do that tonight :). I did finish the hem on a piece of baby garb that Flidais made for me. That’s something at least

5.
Yesterday, after the ultrasound, we went out for a quick dinner and a movie. Fearghus commented that this was the last time we’ll ever be able to do that. From now on we’ll have to line up someone to watch Erik and add the cost of that to the cost of dinner+movie. I’m sure that is only the first of many such realizations.

We’re both agreed that at least once a month we should have a kid-free date night. We do already have a baby sitter lined up.

Future:
November 16: FREE Weekend!!!
November 18: Baby’s Official Due Date
November 19: C-Section
November 23: TBD (My Mother in town visiting)
November 28: Thanksgiving Weekend
December 7: Boar Hunt (maybe)
…
January 3-5: 12th Night, Concord CA?
