\nI heard a compelling interview with David Kessler on NPR about this book. In fact, I heard the interview while I was driving and had to commit the name of the book to memory so that I would remember I wanted to look into it some more. <\/p>\n

The book digs in depth into the physical and psychological things that are driving America to obesity. He make a very compelling case that the food (and restaurant) industry by balancing fat, sugar and salt is feeding us exactly what we want.. which is exactly what is most bad for us. <\/p>\n

The author spent a lot of time discuss “conditioned hypereating” which is a conditioned response to highly palatable food. He described these people as focused on food to the point where they can’t think about anything else. Although I can see what he’s talking about.. that’s not exactly me.<\/p>\n

The beginning part dragged on a bit.. but it was still an interesting read. I am disappointed that the end part.. the part where he gets to “how do we get around this..” and “How do we take control of our waist lines despite this” was very short.. and not terribly thorough.<\/p>\n

Regardless, I still recommend this book.. It was a fast read and very thoroughly described why we need to change.. and what we’re up against when we try to change.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
