Ugh!
– Start collecting clear/glass containers for storing stuff in the fridge to make stuff easy to identify.

For the first half of the week I kind of muddled through. I kind of half did the right things. Then I got and read The Eat-Clean Diet and I’ve tightened up my eating a lot.

We did go out of town over the weekend but I was able to keep my eating within reasonable limits.

I’m resolved to start pre-planning my menus. I want to be actively cooking about 2-3 nights a week and be able to coast with left-overs and throw together foods the other nights. ALSO this week I went to the grocery store EVERY SINGLE NIGHT. Seriously, that’s too much. Ok, I guess it’s needed. The last few years I’ve neglected my cupboard.. so getting back into cooking means building up my larder again. BUT STILL!!

Breakfast and lunch at work are working fairly well. They’re a combination of protein and complex carbs. I plan to add an afternoon snack (at 3:30-ish) of fruit and protein so I’m not -starving- on the way home/while I’m making dinner. Even so, I do think I need to make lots more roasted veggies appear in my fridge so I have lots of options for lunches.

Breakfasts:
T: Greek Yogurt, 1/4 cup grapenuts, fresh whole yellow peach, Coffee Machine Coffe
W: Same as Tuesday + Corn Muffin
Th: Hardboiled egg on toast, 1 oz dubliner cheese Good Earth Chai Tea with 2 tsp sugar
F: Waffle and blueberries, Good Earth Chai Tea with 2 tsp sugar
S: McDonalds (boo) Bacon, Egg and Cheese Biscuit, Frappe Mocha
S: McDonalds (boo) Bacon, Egg and Cheese Biscuit, Frappe Mocha
M: Greek Yogurt, 1/4 cup grapenuts, blueberries, Good Earth Chai Tea with 1 tsp sugar

This week I switched from coffee to tea. I bought a box of GoodEarth Chai Tea. Although GoodEarth touts itself as “naturally sweet” (and I have found their regular tea to be plenty sweet).. I wasn’t impressed with the sweetness of the chai. I started adding two spoon fulls of sugar to it. I think I’ll see if I can cut that back to just one. Peaches continue to be made of awesome and win.

Lunches:
T: 2 oz Dubliner Cheese, 1 fresh peach
W: Leftover BBQ Pulled Pork on a whole wheat bun.
Th: 1/2 chicken breast and small spinach salad(apples, sundired tomatoes, goat cheese) and Strawberry Balsamic Dressing (From Harverst and Rowe)
F: Smoked Salmon and the rest of Thursday’s salad
S: 6″ Subway Turkey sub on wheat with mustard and avacado.
S: Salted/Roasted Cashews
M: Leftover shell pasta with veggies and 1/2 a chicken breast

Tuesday I wasn’t hungry until late.. and then 2oz of cheese didn’t really hit the spot (don’t get me wrong.. the cheese was FANTASTIC but I need to make sure I’ve got veggies and protein for lunch or I just don’t feel full). On Wednesday I ate way too much of the pulled pork. Probably two servings. I should have measured it.. but I was feeling anxious (for no reason) and skimped on that. Thursday’s lunch was close to perfect.. the salad was a bit expensive.. but I’m fairly certain I could make the same thing for cheaper myself and bring it from home. Smoked salmon is full of win. Monday’s lunch needed more veggies but other than that it was pretty good.

Dinners:
T:Pulled pork sandwiches and coleslaw. 16 oz 2% milk
W: Alton Brown Grilled Chicken, Celery and Garlic, 1/2 grilled peach. 1 glass 2% milk.
Th: Wheat shell pasta with veggies and smoked salmon.
F: 1 1/2 Tamales and corn
S: Brussels Sprouts and tri tip
S: Venison and salad
M: Pork Stir fry with veggies

All of the dishes this week were made of win. I will happily eat any of them again. The AB chicken.. I think it needs less salt in the brine. The coleslaw was a commercial mix and was kind of grody. I ended up rinsing it off and using the cabbage in Monday’s stir fry.

What I’m reading:
I finished two books this week. French Women Don’t Get Fat and The Eat-Clean Diet: Fast Fat-Loss that lasts Forever! (review)

I also picked up a copy of Clean Eating Magazine. I’m very impressed with the magazine and I’ll be subscribing to it. I’ve read a lot of cooking magazines over the years.. but this is the first time I’ve had something that had 3-4 recipes per page where I wanted to try ALL of them. Also it had some abdomen exercises I’m trying out. I’m really looking forward to getting my next issue.

This week I: – Lost 2.6 lbs. (307.4) – Gave up soda.
