Work/Programming
I am having -so- much fun! I know I’m not supposed to say that about “work” but I am. I finally have a development environment all setup and working for a project that I helped develop 10 years ago. On this project usually getting a dev env setup takes 2-3 weeks (I’ve done it a few times in the intervening 10 years)… but this time it only took 3 days. So now I’m wandering around in the environment and remembering all the things I knew about it 10 years ago and rediscovering the sheer joy that comes from working on something that’s this complex.. and yet this familiar.

Why yes, I am a total geek. Why do you ask?

2. Home
BofA called last night to say they needed one more piece of paper. I need to print it out, sign it and fax it off to them. They even said that after they have that paper we should hear something in the next 30-45 days. Yeah.. I’ll go ahead and start holding my breath now. Bah.

I think either this weekend or next weekend we’re going to be cleaning out the trailer to get it ready for our big trip. That will be a great opportunity to shift some boxes out of the house and into the garage/ducal shed.

3. Health
This morning I finished my 18th run of week 4 for C25K. I ran the whole way and didn’t gimp for any of it. With that I think I’ll move onto week 5 next week. Boo ya.

I’m heading to Montana in a few weeks for a family wedding. I do want to run while I’m there. I’m planning to try and do it in the early morning. Mom & Dad’s farm is way out in the country so I think there will be plenty of flat, relatively empty country roads to run on. I think I’ll plan to do C25K week 5 for the next two weeks.. and then jump back to week 4 while I’m in Montana. Since I don’t normally run outside I’m just worried about doing a stressful run. At the end of it all, even if I don’t run while I’m there it will be ok. I’ll just pick up where I need to when I get back.

4. Projects
On Wednesday I finally got my bodice fitting. I’m super geeked about that. Last night (Thursday) I fidgeted with the pattern and got it all finalized. Tonight I’ll cut it out of the final fabric and start sewing it all together. The skirt is mostly done, the sleeves are 1/2 done and the bodice is just about to begin. I’m hopeful that I’ll be able to get the bodice mostly done over the weekend.

I need to finish the bodice so I can cut the skirt to the right width.. so that I can scavenge fabric out of the off-cut to finish the sleeves. /fret /fret /fret

Ok, past the fretting. After the blue dress (and before we leave on vacation) I need to finish up my class notes for the hat class I’ll be teaching at Cynaguan Coronet and A&S. Essentially it’s along the lines of “If you wear an apron dress**/tunic/cotehardie, here are some quick and easy plausibly period ways to cover your head so as not to appear to be a hussy.” Where I can I’m supplying patterns for what -I- do and there will be a hand-on with hats/headcoverings I use.

It’s not a in-depth dive into hats throughout the middle ages.. but it is a good overview with quick “cover your head” pointers to appear to be more period.

**WRT apron dresses.. I -am- planning to point out that the evidence for “Viking” women’s head coverings prior to the 11th century is scarce.. and that it’s more prevalent in Christianize locations such as York and Dublin.

5.
OMG!! Ok, so tomorrow or maybe tonight I’ll post a picture. Last night, while modeling my newly fitted bodice I saw something I haven’t seen in a while. I HAVE COLLAR BONES. Not only that.. they show up even when I don’t shrug my shoulders. There’s like shadows of collar bones.. at my collar ..like all the time. /glee

1. Work/Programming I am having -so- much fun!
