Work/Programming
Had a meeting today with our “special” vendor. I’ve come to the conclusion that they should never get on a call with us. Every time they do they make me anxious and unhappy. When we exchange email everything seems hunky dorey.. but then we get on a call and suddenly they make me feel like they’re a mom and pop shop who barely understands why you should test things before you launch them live.

Us: We’d be more comfortable launching this on one of our sites before launching it across the network.
Them: Oh, can’t we just launch it live and see how it works out.
Us: … NO!
Them: Ok.. well then we’ll see what we can do to be able to test this before launching it.

Seriously? I mean SERIOUSLY!!!

We did manage to get the test up on one site .. and it did work.. but the whole time we were launching it they came up with a lot of reasons why they thought the test wouldn’t work.. or wouldn’t be a valid test.. or might just possibly make every damn thing else explode in a fiery mess that would burn our entire network to the ground. In the end they expressed surprise that the test had worked.. and then asked us to leave the test up for a few hours so their engineers could look into WHY IT WORKED INSTEAD OF FAILING. THIS DOES NOT INSPIRE MY CONFIDENCE AND MAKE ME LOOK FORWARD TO LAUNCHING YOUR STUPID PRODUCT ACROSS MY WHOLE NETWORK. Just .. you know.. in case that kind of thing mattered. *eyeroll* *fume*

2. Home
BofA has sent us the official short sale approval. There are still a lot of things I want to do on it. I think it’ll be a really great project to work on. Lots of little fiddly bits left to .. fiddle.

We’ve decided to hotel it for Crown this weekend. The forecast is just far too dire and there’s nothing more depressing than having to pack up wet canvas. We’ll be at the Best Western. Word has it there will be epic parties there. It’s a nice idea.. but my experience with Hoteling it at a Crown is that it will be very very late Saturday by the time we get back to the hotel.. I’ll be cold.. and cranky.. and pretty much go straight to bed. We’ll see about the partying.

I’m looking forward to the Queen’s Artisan Auctions. It’s kind of like what Ducal used to be. I’ve already packed my check book 😀

5.
A couple of years ago F and I started collecting the equipment for lure coursing. Our dogs love it and it seemed like a good thing for us to do. We picked up the minimal equipment and were able to setup a straight out and back course. We’ve set it up a few times.. but in order to -really- do lure coursing we knew we needed to invest more in the equipment. Money has been short for a few years so we packed up the equipment and ignored it for a while.

For Gaston Phebus, Else asked F and I to run the lure coursing. After talking it over (a lot) yesterday morning we finally ordered the parts we need to make a kick ass lure coursing setup. The total came to ~$450. In all this means we’ve spent almost $1k on the lure coursing equipment. As I told F, at this level of financial commitment.. we’ve -got- to set it up more often.

Then.. last night we noticed that Tiggy was limping. It turns out that when F took the dogs in the backyard to work on coursing Tiggy either sprained or broke her toe. I will be immensely miffed if she can’t run at Gaston Phebus.

That said… I am going to need to draft someone to help me. Our dogs -really- love coursing.. to the extent that it takes two of us to handle our two dogs. That doesn’t leave room for someone to be the Master of the Hounds.

Video from when we did lure coursing a few years ago at Estrella: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rgGT8_xd224

My dogs can be seen at :29-36, 1:39-1:51, 2:46-2:50, 3:46-3:51, 4:09-4:21, and a couple other placed 😉

Oh!
