What is this?

What is this?

So, a number of my friends, who are very smart and clever (not the same thing), have nagged me into making up a publicly accessible notebook of my thoughts and researches.  I’m a member of the SCA, and that can lead one into all SORTS of research rabbit holes.  Best to have a way to record stuff you’ve done so you can find it again later.

Therefore, class handouts of classes I’ve taught will end up here, ongoing thoughts on the Transylvanian Cookbook project and other medieval cooking…and if you’re reading this, and have interpreted some of those recipes yourself, PLEASE SHARE IT HERE!  Other projects,  like my period stove/kitchen will show up here, and some non-medieval work like my fused glass.  And I reserve the right to show off any of my work and my dogs too.

But back to the SCA. As you may know, it is incorporated as a 501(c)3 non-profit corporation. To me, that means learning stuff, and sharing and teaching the stuff we learn. And learning by doing, as hands-on as creatively possible. That is generally what you’ll find in this blog.

Who am I?  In the real world, I work for the County I live in, and am several kinds of nerd.  Reader, gamer (tabletop and RPG), amateur cook.  In the SCA, a minor noble who has done a few tasks for Crown and Kingdom, and yes, likes to cook.  I am a member of the order of the Pelican and have just been named a member of the order of the Laurel. So there’s that.
