1. Work/Programming
No change so far with my work situation. I’m employed through the end of the year.. and still up in the air as to what will happen next year.
Well ok.. there was a little change. A few weeks ago, while I was out on PTO, I received an email from the CTO asking me what I know about Javascript UI. Sadly the answer is “not very much but I’d love to learn more”. After a few email exchanges the CTO suggested that I come hang out with a specific team in April and get a sense of the project. In preparation I’ve started reading the “Javascript UI” book from O’Reilly. Something good may come of this.
2. Home
This past weekend we had a bunch of friends visiting from out of town. I dearly loved having a nice comfortable house for them to come to and hang out in. I am so much happier in this rental than I ever was in the house I owned. This makes me happy.
Ahh also since I last posted I started a garden. In short.. I have a black thumb. I can kill plastic plants. BUT I want to get rid of my black thumb so this year we’re raising a garden. I bought and read “Square Foot Gardening” and then Fearghus built me an elevated raised bed. So far I’ve managed to grow and harvest Swiss Chard. Everything else is looking pretty good too. 3. Health
Still valiantly fighting the battle of the bulge. Slow progress is slow.
On the plus side.. I’m now up at the size I was then I -started- making progress.. and this means all of the clothes I made oh-so-long ago.. the clothes I’d shrunk out of and was trying to decide whether I should refit them.. all those clothes now fit me again. This is both good and bad.**
Fearghus and I did manage to clear out enough space in the garage to get the treadmill setup. Now I just need to blast myself out of bed early enough to make good use of it. It’s on the todo list.
Lately I’ve just felt very fatigued lately. I’m hoping to catch up on sleep soon.
**On FB someone commented that they loved the new dress I was wearing in the pictures from Crown.. I nearly replied “That old thing?” Since the dress is just about 3 years old and I stopped wearing it because I had lost too much weight and was swimming in the dress. I am no longer swimming in the dress. That said, I -am- terribly glad to have nice clothes to wear.
4. SCA/Projects
During closing court on Sunday at March Crown, His Majesty Obidiah asked my lord, Fearghus MacAirt if he would consider joining the Order of Chivalry. Fearghus said yes and we will be doing the vigil, ceremony and celebration at June Crown (June 22).
Coincidentally Crown is in our Shire this year. Way before the offer we had already volunteered to be on-site early (ie, on Thursday) to help with setup. This is highly convenient.
For him I will be making the following:
– Black Rus pants. Machine sewn.
– White Viborg shirt. Hand sewn.
– White tunic with trim. Possibly hand sewn. Trim is still TBD. I want to weave the trim.. but I think he wants something white-on-white.. and I’m not sure how that will read in tablet woven trim.
Other vigil/knighting plans are progressing.
5. Full plates are full
Knighting plans are progressing. (June)
Wedding plans are progressing. (August)
Other (not yet to be discussed) plans are progressing. (November)
Lately there has been a foofaragh on SCA-West and West-FB and feel like I should volunteer. Then I realize my plate is already full. So I’m keeping my urges to volunteer to myself. Maybe after Wedding.
