The quick downhill slide

Last night I had a headache. I’d had the headache for most of the day. I think it’s a combination of a side effect of the eyedrops my eye Doctor prescribed.. and a bit left over from getting carsick on the way into work. Anyway I had the headache for most of the day and just felt drained. When I got home I couldn’t work up the energy to actually commit to make something for dinner.

Finally I decided: “I feel bad and I’m hungry. I’ll have a piece of bread with butter and jam on it and then I’ll not be hungry and I can think about making dinner”. With this in mind I wandered off to the kitchen.

We were out of bread.

Alarm bells should have gone off. My stomach sank and I reeled from (practically) despair. I wheeled away from the empty bag of bread and reached for the baking chocolate chips. Surely 1-2 chips would be enough to revive me(yeah, I -thought- that.. but you and I both know it wouldn’t have been 1-2 chips.. it would have been a handful). Thankfully they chips are gone (and I don’t plan to replenish them). Finally I settled on some rice chips I’d bought last weekend.

I shouldn’t have eaten them. I especially shouldn’t have eaten them instead of dinner. /sigh

I guess the lesson here is that especially when I’m stressed, sick or in pain I need to be extra careful and have plenty of good choices on hand or inevitably I’ll make bad choices. A single piece of bread wouldn’t have been -so- bad.. but chocolate.. especially a big old handful would have been a horrible choice.

Luckily the rice chips weren’t too salty and in fact aside from being the totally wrong choice weren’t =too= bad. Though.. I never did actually make dinner.

Despite this, I’m down 2 pounds from yesterday.
