Five Things

Friday Five

1. Work/Programming
I finally finished off my project and will be doing a demo of it today (wheeee). My next project is a design document and that’s clipping along well. I think the biggest stumbling block on this document is nailing the stakeholders down and getting them to sign off and agree that what I put in the document is what they actually want. They’re a squirrelly bunch.

2. Home
Fearghus surprised me and installed the new latches on the bathroom cabinet door. Since then the incidents of items swatted out of the cabinet onto floor has dropped to none. That said.. I think His Evilness, Emperor Loki the Kitty has lost interest in the medicine cabinet. In the last few days His Evilness has discovered and deciphered the use of the “Doggy door” and has now become an indoor/outdoor cat.

I’m not terribly pleased about this development.. at least with the dogs I know they’ll stay in the back yard. I have a feeling His Evilness will soon figure out how to scale the fence and begin exploring the neighborhood (Big scary neighborhood full of vicious dogs and hillbilly yokels).

Continued radio silence from BofA, the bastards.

3. Health
My “Hard Ten” ended up being more of a “Hard Nine-and-a-half”. On Saturday I neglected to pack a lunch figuring I could just eat off the dayboard at the event. It wasn’t a bad decision.. it just wasn’t 100% within my “Hard Ten” parameters. Then to add insult to injury I ended up going to Applebee’s with some friends for dinner. Honestly I thought to myself “I’ll just drink water and order something ‘healthy'”. My good intentions lasted until we were seated at which point I ordered a lemonaid and helped to nibble on the appetizers. *sigh* Ah well. Still, the Hard Ten was a good jump start back into my healthy lifestyle. I lost a total of nearly 5 pounds while doing the “Hard Ten”.

Speaking of weight loss.. I passed a pretty nice milestone.

– For the first time since I started, my current weight is less than double my goal weight.
– I’ve now lost 25% of the total weight I have to lose to reach my goal weight. I am one-quarter of the way done with the “losing” part of my new lifestyle.
– I’ve now lost 15% of my initial body weight.
– I’m also just shy of 50 lbs lost.

4. Projects
I’m making good progress on Her Highness of the Mists’s tunic. I hope to have it done by the end of this weekend. It’s taking longer than a normal tunic would because all of the exterior visible stitching is done by hand. It looks mighty spiff.

Next on my project list is my dress for my brother’s wedding. I’ll get the fabric washed this weekend and get started on the sleeves ASAP.

Oh also, Fabric-store.com is having a sale on linen until Saturday. It stacks with the checkout code “ilovelinen”. Remember, Pennsic is coming. Yes.. I have $300 worth of linen in the mail. I know what my projects are after my blue dress. Wheeee.

I’m a little troubled at the fact that one project is following on another project.. but I feel like I’m running from one have-to to the next. I want to be able to linger on a project and really sink my teeth into it.. instead of running pell-mell onto the next project.

5.
I’m way too busy. I think I need like a week off just to catch up on all the things I’m supposed to be doing.

AUGH.. need to:
– Figure out what I’m giving my brother for his wedding
– Buy ticket to fly to Pennsic
– Start/finish blue dress
