Them: so.. *head tilt* how are you doing?
LOL. Anyway. I’ll save y’all from having to ask.
I’m 7 months post Bariatric Sleeve surgery and 1 week post hip replacement surgery.
I’ve lost 64 lbs overall (40 since the actual day of the gastric sleeve surgery). I have a couple of precautions I need to pay careful attention to so I don’t accidentally pop my new hip out of joint. I’m now off of the pain meds from the hip surgery and my pain lingers at about a 1-2. Most of the linger pain is from the muscles/tendons and the itching on the incision. The itching around the incision from the adhesive allergy is a bit maddening. At the moment I’m still required to sleep flat on my back with a special foam pillow preventing me from turning/twisting and that is really doing a number on my lower back. We have a physical therapist coming to the house twice a week. So far the exercises are leaving me sore but not wore out.
I had surgery last Thursday and I was back to work on Monday (my choice). I broke something at work on Wednesday and I’ve been super anxious to fix it so I didn’t want to drag my feet on it. I finally fixed it yesterday and I’m MUCH happier about it.
My job also officially transitioned to having new overlords. My paycheck now comes from Ziff Davis instead of Red Ventures, but I still work on the sites CNET and ZDNet. I’m working through all of the new employee orientation stuff and required trainings but it’s looking very positive at the new company.
Fearghus has been doing an absolutely stellar job taking care of me. I struggle with asking for help (“I CAN DO IT MYSELF”) and he’s been super good about preventing me from overdoing it and being just exactly the partner I need for this recovery. He also makes a mean grilled cheese (sour dough with gouda and Munster cheeses). I am super thankful to have him.
