VLCD day 4.
I’m sad that I’ve already had “that moment”.. you know the one where you look at the number and think “OH NO!! I’VE FAILED!! I ONLY LOST TWO POUNDS BETWEEN YESTERDAY AND TODAY!! WHAT DID I DO WRONG?? WAS THE AIR FULL OF SUGAR?? IT’S NOT FAIR!!!”.. Luckily I’m still gaping at the idea of losing two pounds a DAY instead of two pounds a week.. so I’m not jumping off a cliff or anything. Just, you know, having weirdly irrational thoughts.
I think the idea that the very low calorie diet(VLCD) is for only three-ish weeks makes it easier to strictly stick to it.
I’m also reminded that I’m a bored eater. As in “Hmm, I’m bored.. nothing to do.. guess I’ll eat something”. Not being able to eat somethings is annoying.. I guess I’ll just focus that energy on more productive things. Last night I sewed together the skirt to my red dress (go go nervous food-driven energy) and in fact I was so distracted with being productive I forgot to eat my dinner fruit.
This morning at 6am I took my weight, took a shower and had 12oz of water. At 6:30am I did my injection and packed my lunch.
{this morning at the office}
Monica’s Id: Coffee cake would be lovely.. look, it’s sitting right there, no one would say a word to you.
Monica: No.. That’s not on the plan.. and besides it would probably taste like saw dust.. and look, I have yummy sweet iced coffee instead. Nom nom nom.
Monica’s Id: Oh, yes.. coffee good. NOM NOM NOM.
I recognize that even in 3 weeks coffee cake won’t be “on plan” (the “no starch no sugar” plan) but still.. the time limit is helping.
I’ve been yearning for a cold Starbucks coffee and today decided I’d see if I could mimic it close enough with the work coffee while still remaining on plan. 1 work machine espresso + 1 work machine black coffee + 3 liquid cream packets (they’re about teaspoon sized) + 1 sweet’n’low seems close enough to curb the craving. In fact it’s kind of yummy.
There’s a farmer’s market in downtown SF today which I normally go to.. but it seems silly to go there just to buy some chard. I may just skip it.
At almost precisely 12:15 my stomach growled at me. So.. yeah.. I made it past 11:30 without staring the clock down from hunger. Good thing too.. raw butter lettuce is NOT my favorite thing. Next time I’ll be sure to pack some mustard to dress the leaves.
Not sure what’s for dinner.. probably something with ground beef.. I think chili or meatballs.
I would cheerfully kill small fluffy bunnies for a peanut butter and jelly sandwich.
